Billy Dufala Paper Bale, 2023
Paper waste, stainless steel wire, wood
3.5 ft x 5 ft x 3 ft
Presented by Fleisher/Ollman Gallery, Philadelphia
Paper Bale is a sculptural object of compressed paper originating from an undisclosed Amazon facility. This large-scale sculptural work is a physical remnant from what is often described as the digital age. Bulky, heavy, and impressive, the existence of this bale confronts the viewer with a sense of the weight and all-too-real existence of the cast-off materials and detritus of the new economy.
